Malibu Sunset Mocktail

Millie Pham

This Malibu Sunset is a fruity, tropical drink that’s so easy to make—and it looks gorgeous!

With layers of pineapple, coconut, and a splash of grenadine, it’s like a beach vacation in a glass.

This version is kid-friendly, but I’ll include an adult variation too!

Let’s make this beautiful (and delicious) drink! 🍍🍒☀️

What You’ll Need

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup pineapple juice (cold)
  • ½ cup coconut water (cold)
  • 2 tablespoons grenadine
  • Ice cubes
  • Maraschino cherries (for garnish)
  • Pineapple slices (for garnish)

Tools:

  • Tall glass (like a hurricane glass or highball glass)
  • Spoon (for layering)
  • Measuring cup

Pro Tips

Use cold ingredients for the best taste and pretty layers.
Pour the grenadine last—it’s heavier and sinks, making that sunset look!
Tilt the spoon when adding layers for a softer, blended effect.
For kids, add fun straws or umbrellas to make it extra special!
Want a boozy version? Add a shot of Malibu rum before the coconut water!

Instructions

Step 1: Fill the Glass with Ice

Fill your tall glass about ¾ full with ice cubes.

Step 4: Add the Grenadine for the Sunset Effect

Slowly pour 2 tablespoons of grenadine into the drink—it will sink to the bottom and create the layered effect.

Step 5: Garnish and Serve

Add a maraschino cherry and a pineapple slice to the rim. Stick in a fun straw—and enjoy!

Substitutions & Variations

⭐ Swap coconut water for Sprite for a sweeter taste.
⭐ Use orange juice instead of pineapple juice for a different citrus twist.
⭐ Add a splash of Malibu rum for an adult version.
⭐ Try pomegranate juice instead of grenadine for a natural option.

Make-Ahead Tips

🥶 Want to prep ahead? Mix the pineapple juice and coconut water in a jar and store it in the fridge. Add ice and grenadine when serving for the layered effect.

Leftovers & Storage

🍹 This drink is best fresh! If you need to store it, keep it covered in the fridge for a few hours, but the layers will blend together.

Final Thoughts

That’s it! A fun, easy, and tropical drink that looks amazing and tastes even better. Perfect for kids, summer parties, or just a little treat at home. Try it and let me know in the comments how it turned out! 🌅✨
