Millie Pham

If you love refreshing, fruity drinks with a little sparkle, this Blueberry Lemon Matcha Fizz is going to be your new favorite! It’s bright, bubbly, and packed with juicy blueberries, zesty lemon, and earthy matcha—the perfect balance of sweet and tangy with a fun green tea twist.

And the best part? It’s super easy to make with just a few ingredients!

Let’s shake things up!

What You’ll Need

For the Blueberry Layer:

  • ½ cup fresh or frozen blueberries
  • 1 tbsp honey (or maple syrup for vegan option)
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp water

For the Matcha Layer:

  • 1 tsp matcha powder
  • ¼ cup hot water (not boiling!)
  • 1 tsp honey (optional, for sweetness)

For the Fizz:

  • ½ cup sparkling water (plain or lemon-flavored)
  • Ice cubes

Garnishes (Optional but Pretty!):

  • Fresh blueberries
  • Lemon slice
  • Dusting of matcha powder

Pro Tips

  1. Use fresh blueberries for the best flavor! Frozen works too, but fresh will give a brighter, more natural sweetness.
  2. Don’t use boiling water for matcha. Hot water (about 175°F) is best to avoid bitterness.
  3. Layer slowly! Pour the matcha gently over the blueberry layer to keep the colors separate.
  4. Sweeten to taste. Adjust honey or maple syrup depending on how tart you like it.
  5. Want a creamier version? Add a splash of coconut milk or oat milk for a matcha latte twist!

Tools You’ll Need

  • Small saucepan
  • Whisk (matcha whisk or regular)
  • Muddler or fork
  • Fine mesh strainer (optional, for a smoother blueberry puree)
  • Tall glass for serving

Substitutions & Variations

  • Dairy-free twist: Add a splash of almond or coconut milk for a creamy fizz.
  • Extra lemony: Use lemon sparkling water instead of plain.
  • Stronger matcha flavor: Double the matcha for an earthier kick.
  • Boozy version: Add a splash of vodka or gin for a cocktail twist!

Leftovers & Storage

  • Best enjoyed fresh! The bubbles will fade if left sitting too long.
  • If making ahead, keep the blueberry puree and matcha mix separate and assemble when ready to serve.
