Spiced Americano

Millie Pham

If you love a classic Americano but want to spice it up (literally), this Spiced Americano is going to be your new favorite! It’s warm, cozy, and has just a hint of spice that makes your coffee feel a little extra special.

Perfect for chilly mornings or when you need a comforting coffee with a twist.

Let’s make it!

What You’ll Need:

  • 1 shot (about 1 oz) of espresso
  • 1/2 cup hot water
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 pinch ground cloves or nutmeg (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon honey or sugar (optional, adjust to taste)
  • Cinnamon stick or orange peel (optional, for garnish)

Pro Tips:

  1. Freshly brewed espresso is best, but strong brewed coffee works too!
  2. Go easy on the spices—a little goes a long way!
  3. For a fancy twist, rub the rim of your mug with orange zest for a pop of citrus.

Tools You’ll Need:

  • Espresso machine or coffee maker
  • Kettle or pot (to heat the water)
  • Mug for serving

Substitutions & Variations:

  • No espresso? Use 1/2 cup of strong black coffee instead.
  • Want it iced? Let the espresso cool, then mix with cold water and serve over ice.
  • Feeling adventurous? Add a small pinch of cayenne for a spicy kick!

Make Ahead Tips:

You can pre-mix your spice blend (cinnamon, cloves, etc.) and keep it in a small jar for quick use.

How to Make a Spiced Americano:

1. Brew the Espresso

Brew 1 shot of espresso and pour it into your mug.

2. Heat the Water

In a kettle or small pot, heat 1/2 cup of water until it’s hot (but not boiling).

3. Add Spices

Stir 1/4 teaspoon of ground cinnamon and a pinch of cloves (or nutmeg) into the espresso. Add 1 teaspoon of honey or sugar if you like it sweet.

4. Add Hot Water

5. Garnish and Serve

Garnish with a cinnamon stick or a twist of orange peel if you’d like. Serve immediately and enjoy!

    Leftovers & Storage:

This drink is best enjoyed fresh, but you can save the spiced espresso mixture in the fridge for up to 1 day. Just add hot water when you’re ready to serve.

    Conclusion:

And there you have it—a warm, spiced twist on the classic Americano! It’s simple, delicious, and just the thing to cozy up with. Try it out and let me know what you think—did you add your own twist? Drop a comment below, I’d love to hear about it! ☕✨
